Low Fat Diet, Exercise And Weight Loss

Our freezer has gotten pretty empty. I have been waiting for either Healthy Choice or Lean Cuisine meals to go on sale. Friday, I walked over to Target which is near my work. I wanted to pick up something for lunch. They had a bunch of Lean Cuisine meals on sale for $2, including the Lean Cuisine panini bread meals. They even had a few of the Lean Cuisine flatbread melts on clearance for $1.44! I wanted to load up on them. Unfortunatly I had swimming immediately after work, and karate class after that. I considered leaving them in the freezers at work, and bringing them home the following week, but it was a clean out weekend, and they would have thrown them away (nevermind they were new and unopened). I decided that I would try the Target near my home. So Saturday I went to the Target near my home only to find they DID NOT have the Lean Cuisine’s on sale. Grumble.
But yesterday, the new ads came out. I found that the local grocery store had Lean Cuisine meals on sale for $2. And another grocery store had Healthy Choice meals on sale for $2.50. $2.50 is an okay price, but $2 is much better.
So yesterday afternoon, I went to the Wegmans, and bought 50 Lean Cuisine meals ($100) and brought them home. I still have plenty of room in our freezer, so I plan to go back and buy more. Unfortunatly, the Lean Cuisine panini meals were on sale for $2.50, not $2. But tomorrow, I am back at work. I am going to check out the Target by my work and see if they still have the Lean Cuisine panini and flatbread meals marked down. If so, I will pick some of them up.

For the most part I like Healthy Choice meals better than I do the Lean Cuisine meals. I will buy loads of them when they are on sale.
I love the Lean Cuisine Honey Balsamic Chicken. The Balsamic sauce has a nice bite to it.
Recently the Healthy Choice meals went on sale, and I bought a bunch of the Honey Balsamic Chicken meals. I have been very disappointed in them. The apple-cranberry crisp is decent. The broccoli is fair. But the Honey Balsamic Chicken itself is not too good. It’s not bad, but just isn’t good either. I like that they have one big chunk of chicken. But the sauce is just to watery and tasteless. With the Lean Cuisine, it is thick, dark, and sweet. I have had a couple of these from Healthy Choice now, and they were both like this. I doubt I will but more of this particullar Healthy Choice. There are many other flavors to choose from that are better.
So if you have a choice, and want to try the Honey Balsamic Chicken, go for the Lean Cuisine!

I stopped at the library today, and as I always do, I scanned the cookbook section of their used book sale. They get some turnover, but I often see the same books. But once in a while a low-fat cookbook shows up. Often they are older, not very interesting ones. Today I scored big, and they had three interesting looking low-fat cookbooks.
The first one was titled Busy People’s Low Fat Cookbook. This one looks pretty cool. It has recipes that are fast, and use a limited number of ingredients. They even flag the recipes as to whether budget friendly or not.
The next cookbook was titled Skinny Pasta. I love good pasta, so I was excited to find a low-fat pasta cookbook!
The third cookbook was Low-Fat Cooking On The Grill. This one has some delicious looking pictures. I hope they taste half as good as they look.

I just got back from vacation. Actually I had two vacations close together. The first vacation was a week long driving trip around New England. We ate in nice restaurants almost every night, eating things like clam chowder, and lobster. Yummy! But part of this was also so I could write about the various restaurants for my travel blog.
Then about two weeks after that we headed off to Seattle for about 2 1/2 weeks to visit family. Some meals were at restaurants eating local fare such as fish & chips, clam chowder, and also at fast food restaurants that we don’t have at home like Jack In The Box. But then other meals were with family, eating whatever they made. So basically, the low-fat diet went out the window for a while. I weighed myself last night and weight 178. I forgot to weight myself this morning, but I am guessing the scale would have said about 176. I gained about 8-10 pounds.
But I am home again. So I am back to eating low fat again. I ate a healthy choice meal for breakfast, and will eat another one for lunch. Also, I will be able to get back to my regular workouts. Hopefully the weight will come off and fast as it went on.

I started my weight-loss project months ago. My goal was to lower my body fat. I did it by simply eating low-fat healthy foods and exercising. My weight at the start was in the mid 180s, and this morning I weighted in at 167 pounds! I just got back from vacation on which I probably could have eaten a lot healthier, but I didn’t lose to much ground. I am still working on getting the six-pack abs.
