Low Fat Diet, Exercise And Weight Loss

I like this stuff. I read about it in some cookbook or other, and it talked about how it took so many sprays to add up to a table spoon of butter. I am always looking for ways to cut fat, but still get the taste. And this is a good one.
I have found a few uses for it so far.
I love garlic bread when having a nice dinner. It goes especially well when haveing pasta for dinner. I simply slice a loaf (or part of a loaf) of italian bread into two thinner slabs. Normally, I would spread a tablespoon or two of softened butter. But for low fat, I simply spray the Olivio Buttery Spray on the insides. Sprinkle some garlic seasoning over the “buttered” bread. I put the two parts of bread back together, wrap them in foil, and put them into a 400 degree oven for 10 minutes or so. If the temperature of whatever you are cooking is hotter, or cooler, don’t worry about it. You are just heating up the bread, not baking it. The temperature isn’t critical.
Another use I have found for it is in baking fish such as salmon. I would normally melt a couple tablespoons of butter, mix in some some lemon juice, and drizzle this over the salmon before baking. But with the Olivio Buttery Spray, I simply sprayed the salmon, drizzled some lemon juice over it, and baked. I couldn’t tell the difference in the final result.
Something I have read about, but haven’t tried yet was to use it for cinnamon toast.
I suppose it could be used to spray cooked vegetables, or mashed potatoes, but I usually use Molly McButter for these.
There are a couple other brands of low fat buttery spray such as I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter.

After I loaded up the shopping cart with the sale priced Healthy Choice meals, bought them, got them home, put them in the freezer, I tallied up how many I bought. It was only then that I found that I bought 58 of them. But I also found that I bought more of the Beef Merlot than any other flavor. I hadn’t planned it like that. I was just grabbing what looked interesting, and didn’t have too much fat it it, and shoving them into the cart. Apparently at the time, the Beef Merlot looked really interesting.
I just ate the Healthy Choice Beef Merlot (in wine sauce with seasoned red skin potatoes & vegetables) for lunch. It was 220 calories, with 6 grams of fat. With 60 calories worth of fat, about 27% of the total calories come from fat. That’s pretty high! If I had realized the percentage was that high, I probably would have passed on the Beef Merlot. I may need to take calculator to the grocery store with me next time. Of make a list for myself all printed out with the fat percentages already calculated out. Weight Watchers counts this as 4 points.
When I pulled it out of the freezer, I noticed there was no dessert. Oh well. It took 5 1/2 minutes of microwave time, and had to be stirred about halfway through. The vegetables were green beans, carrots, and onions and were in with the beef and potatoes in the wine sauce. The Healthy Choice Beef Merlot was delicious! I really enjoyed it. But that fat percentage is too high! So I will probably skip these enxt time at the grocery store. I do have about 10 more of them in my freezer at home though. I will eat them! I just wont buy any more of them.

Yet another review of Healthy Choice meals. I am always watching for Lean Cuisine or Weight Watchers meals to come on sale! Of course my freezer is now full of Healthy Choice stuff. But then I am eating them for breakfast, lunch, and sometimes dinner!
For breakfast today I ate teh Healthy Choice Country Herb Chicken (white meat chicken in gravy). I had never had this one before. It came with roasted red potatoes, vegetable medley (broccoli, cauliflower, and a single piece of carrot), and for dessert cherry crisp.
The meal had 240 calories, with 5 grams of fat, and 600mg of sodium. The 5 grams of fat make up 45 calories, or almost 19% of the total calories). Weight Watchers counts this meal as 4 points.
I liked the chicken, but make sure you have a knife to cut it, or maybe at least a metal fork. My plastic fork wasn’t cutting it. But it was good. I liked the roasted potatoes too, and the gravy was okay. The vegetables were bland like all of the Healthy Choice vegetables. So out coems the Molly McButter to give them a little taste. The cherry crisp was very good also.
The fat calories being 19% was a little higher than I would like. But then it is still below the 20% mark. And the meal was pretty satisfying considering it only had 240 carloies in it. And it tasted good. So I will likely have this again. Especially considering I have more of them in my freezer.
